Description » Disciple's Cross™ was started as a craft idea at a summer youth camp in the early 90's, by pastor John Raymond from New Horizon Christian Fellowship in Slidell, Louisiana. He was continually able to meet the growing demand for his Disciple's Cross™ necklaces, until his appearance on the Emmy Award winning CBS television show, Survivor: Thailand.
After wearing one of his unique, hand-made crosses on the show, interest skyrocketed.
Today, these necklaces are sold like crazy for different fund-raising purposes across the United States and abroad. There are more than 6.5 billion people on the planet, and we want as many people as possible to have these crosses.
I bought materials and made about 200 of these crosses to sponsor my missionary trip to Russia and Ukraine this summer.
Disciple's Cross™ is made up of three
distinct components.
The simulated leather cord reminds
us of the leather
straps used to beat our Savior;
the wrapped wire stands
for the thorn branches twisted into a crown to mock the
King of Kings;
and the nails represent the large spikes
that were driven into the hands and feet of the
Lord of Lords.
The leather cord is adjustable for your wearing preference.
The wire is carefully tucked inside on the back of the cross, to prevent from catching onto the skin or clothing.
The crosses are dipped into polyurethane to prevent from rust, and to provide a clear, glossier surface.
After making the necklaces, I went through them several times and removed the poorly made ones. However, if you are not satisfied with the purchase, contact me within 15 days of purchase for a return.
